Another important note: No previous knowledge of Mass Effect required. This story follows the canon of both MLP and Mass Effect as it currently stands as of the end of season 3. On the MLP side, that includes the comics and the books. Tweets from the MLP staff are taken into consideration, but I don't strictly follow those.
